My eyes open and all I see is darkness…
I sit up and try to make out where I am.
The darkness lightens a little as my eyes slowly adjust.

I am lying in the same bed that I was in before.
I must have fallen asleep…

My face starts to feel warm and my heart…
It starts to beat quickly and hurt…
I grab my chest and try to take a deep breath to calm down.
What is wrong with me?…

I swing my legs over the bed and put my feet on the floor,
Gasping slightly at the sudden coldness from it.
I stand up, slightly swaying from dizziness.
I must still be not feeling well…

I try to feel around through the room,
Feeling the cold walls beneath my fingers,
Trying to find the door…

I trip over a table leg and fall on the ground,
Cutting my arm on a sharp piece of metal that I knocked off of the table.
The pain stings, but I’ve felt worse…

I disregard the pain and go on with my search for the door…
I can’t seem to find it.
My mind feels so disordered and I feel so confused…

The moon came out from behind a dark cloud,
And the light fills the room.
It sends a chill down my spine and my eyes rapidly scan the room,
Feeling frightened about the dark shadows being cast off the walls of the room,
And the gnarled trees swaying in the cold wing outside…

My heart starts to race and I look around the room.
The door!
I run to it and pull it open.
I have to use both arms and use all of my strength to pull them open,
Because of their weight and thickness mixed with my lack of strength.

I run out the door, my bare feet slapping on the freezing floor.
I don’t know where I’m running to, but I can’t stop.
I’m so scared and I feel so alone…

Where is he?…
Where is he?…

I’m breathing so hard and…
My heart is pounding so fast…

What is wrong with me?…

I turn a corner and hear a faint noise.
I stop abruptly and listen…

No sound can be heard…

I walk on, quietly and softly…
There is a door on the wall.
I walk to it and slowly…
Ever so slowly…

I open it…

I slowly look inside…
It’s dark, but I can see a faint silhouette,
Standing by the window.

I squint and try to see it better.
Then the moon came out again and lit up the room slightly.
Only slightly…

But it was enough to see what was happening…

There he was…
Standing there…
But…
He wasn’t alone…

He had a young man in his arms…
No…
Not even a man…
It was a boy…
And there was blood dripping from his mouth…

He had killed the boy…
